01Purpose of this policy

This policy applies to Memoa, including version 2.0.0 and later versions until it is revised. It explains how the Memoa Android app accesses, uses, stores, and lets you delete data.

Memoa works without a user account, advertising, audience analytics, or an app server that receives the content entered in the app.

02Data you add

Depending on the features you use, Memoa may save the following in the app’s private storage on your device:

• event titles, dates, recurrence, categories, notes, and reminder times;
• names, notes, and optional photos for people you create;
• custom categories;
• language, theme, color, and widget preferences;
• technical data needed for widget instances and local reminders.

This information is used only to display, organize, back up, and remind you about the dates you configure. It is not sent to the publisher’s server.

03Photos

You can choose an image through the Android photo picker or ask a compatible camera app to create one. Memoa does not request broad access to your photo library or the camera permission. A local copy, which may be resized and recompressed, can be stored in Memoa’s private internal storage.

The system or third-party apps you choose to select or take a photo apply their own privacy practices.

04Notifications and device restart

Memoa requests Android’s notification permission to show reminders that you schedule. On Android 13 or later, this request appears when you save an active reminder, not when the app first opens or during the tutorial. You can deny or withdraw this permission in Android settings; the app remains usable without notifications.

Permission to receive the device restart event lets Memoa locally reschedule reminders and refresh the widget after a restart or a change of date, time, or time zone.

05Google Play, installation, and updates

Memoa integrates the official Google Play In-App Updates API to check with the Play Store whether a newer version is available and, when applicable, offer Google Play’s update flow. This mechanism does not transmit the content of your events, people, notes, or photos to Studio501 or an app server.

When it is used, the Google Play Core libraries and the Play Store process device metadata, the app version, and the list of installed modules and asset packs to determine whether an update is available and estimate its size. According to Google, this data is encrypted, is not transferred to third parties, and is deleted after a fixed retention period. This processing is governed by Google Play’s terms and policies.

06App purchase

The initial purchase of Memoa is handled by Google Play. Memoa does not request, receive, or store your payment card or bank details. Purchase activity and related data are handled by Google under the terms and policies that apply to Google Play and your Google Account.

07Export and import

A JSON export is created only when you start that action. You choose its location through the Android document picker. The file may contain events, people, notes, reminders, categories, settings, and widget configurations stored in the app. It may therefore contain personal data; store and share it carefully.

Photo files themselves are not included in the JSON export. Importing replaces all data currently in the app and removes the current local person photos. Before importing, Memoa shows a summary and requires explicit confirmation. Export your current data first if you may need to recover it; photos must be kept separately.

Any exported file is outside Memoa’s private storage and remains under your control. You must delete it from the location where you saved it.

08Cloud backup

Automatic Android cloud backup and automatic transfer of Memoa’s databases and preferences to another device are disabled in the current app configuration. A backup is created only through the user-initiated export feature.

09Data sale and sharing

The publisher does not sell your data or share content entered in Memoa with advertisers, data brokers, or an app server. Transfers that you initiate yourself, such as sharing a JSON export, remain under your control.

10Retention and deletion

Data remains on the device until you delete the relevant items, clear the app’s data in Android settings, or uninstall Memoa. When an internal photo is replaced or its associated person is deleted, Memoa cleans up internal copies that are no longer referenced.

Exports saved outside the app are not removed when you uninstall Memoa and must be deleted separately by the user.

Memoa does not create an account, so no account-deletion procedure is required. To remove all local data, open Android settings and select Apps > Memoa > Storage > Clear data, or uninstall the app.

11Security

Local data is stored in the private area that Android assigns to Memoa. The app limits its file provider to the internal folder used for person photos and does not expose that provider publicly. No system can guarantee absolute security; protect access to your phone and exported files.

12Children

Memoa is a general date-management tool and is not specifically designed for children. It does not create an online profile or send the locally stored names, birthdays, or photos to the publisher.

13Changes and contact

This policy may be updated if the app’s features or data practices change. The latest update date will appear at the top of this page.
